PUBLIC STATEMENT ON THE FALSE ALLEGATIONS AND MISREPRESENTATION OF THE GBENGA ADEWUMI FOUNDATION

Our attention has been drawn to certain false, misleading, and defamatory statements recently made and circulated by Mr. Abel Austin regarding the Gbenga Adewumi Foundation, its founder, and its operations.

For the record, the Gbenga Adewumi Foundation was lawfully registered in 2024 with the noble aim of reaching out to the less privileged in society, supporting orphanages, and contributing to humanitarian causes. The foundation bears the name of its founder, Mr. Gbenga Adewumi, who has solely financed its activities since inception. All funds used for its programs, logistics, and outreach have come directly from Mr. Adewumi, who resides in the United States and has continuously demonstrated unwavering commitment to the foundation’s vision.

Contrary to the claims of Mr. Abel Austin, his involvement in the foundation has been marred by financial misconduct, breach of trust, and misappropriation of foundation resources. These are unworthy acts of a Trustee. Mr. Austin:

Registered a car purchased with the foundation’s funds in his personal name and misrepresented the cost;

Made himself the sole signatory to the foundation’s account, later changing the account’s email address to exclude the founder from financial oversight;

Failed to account for numerous funds disbursed for foundation projects, including office setup, equipment purchases, and outreach programs;

Illegally took possession of foundation property and even went as far as breaking the locks of the foundation’s office and changing the locks to office;

Accepted a financial settlement of ₦1.5 million as a full and final severance, only to later lodge frivolous petitions with regulatory bodies and law enforcement.

It is important to clarify that Mr. Austin was removed from all foundation matters due to these serious breaches and unethical conduct. His subsequent actions — including altering the foundation’s name and identity on social media and publishing damaging falsehoods — constitute not only a violation of trust but also an infringement on intellectual property and organizational integrity.

We therefore categorically reject Mr. Austin’s claims and condemn his attempts to distort the truth for personal gain. Legal steps are currently being taken to ensure the protection of the foundation’s assets, reputation, and continued operations.

The Gbenga Adewumi Foundation remains committed to its vision and the service of humanity. We thank all our supporters and partners who have continued to believe in our mission.

Signed,
Gbenga Adewumi
C.E.O. Gbenga Adewumi Foundation
